Personalities
begin to blossom for our little sophomores of the nurseries. It's a
marked difference from our first nursery as we begin to see these babies
really start to get social, vocal and when they master those crawling skills,
get ready for a busy little classroom. We will be watching for and encouraging
the beginnings of real social development in Sweet 100. Babies start
developingtowards the toddler world as they begin to touch and interact with
their classmates and also see them entering the challenging world of sharing.
Weather permitting, we're going to start getting outside for recess in our
second nursery, we love to swing and we love to go for rides in our "six-
pack" Bye-Bye Buggy.
We
still continue all of the procedures and staffing from the infants sweet. It's
a fun little nursery that still remembers that even our smallest students
demand the highest level of care. Developmental stages for
graduating to our Toddler classes are easily measured for our second
nursery parents and staff. Normally between the ages of 11 and 13 months
old we will begin to see our babies move to just one nap during the day and
develop walking skills. Furthermore, we will begin to introduce table foods in
Sweet 100. All of these element spell toddler, but as in our first nursery,
each baby is allowed to chart their own developmental course and ultimately be
prepared for our toddler classes when they tell us they are ready.
As in all classrooms, we provide everything
for our children with the exception of diapers and formula. All
of their baby foods (Heinz & Gerber), juices and cereals along with ointments,
diaper wipes, and all baby linens. Asthey transition towards table foods, we take care of that also with special attention being given by CPR certified staff
to eliminate choke hazards. We have a storage area just for parents to use for
extra diapers and diaper bags, and the car seat closet in the lobby can be used if needed..
Toy cleaning and sanitizing take on a whole new meaning in the second nursery.
These babies are busy little people with a constant need for interaction with toys as they begin to develop fine motor skills. Aside from one large factor, If they can touch it,
it's going in their mouth, being quick is key in this department as one toy is put down,
another is picked up! It's safe to say that the toys are cleaned as much as the
babies themselves
Lead Teachers in all of our nurseries are scheduled in at 6:00 a.m. We do not
combine age groups in our classrooms for any reason, all day. Your staff, your child's classmates, familiar faces everyday.
