Our most challenging age, two year olds turning three.  The world of busy little children take on a whole new meaning.  How do we corral these fireballs and put together a true preschool classroom?  We start with a basic teacher student ratio planned at a 7:1 ratio versus state standard of 11-13 students to one teacher.  Next you need a very special staff that understand the challenge that two and a half year olds present.  Then you put together and maintain a very consistent daily schedule that provides plenty of opportunities for structured activities.  A tough order to fill, we do it everyday.  Add all of the elements needed for a strong two and a half year old program together, patience among teachers and the equation makes it work!

Daily class schedules are posted on the outside glass wall of the class for the center directors and the owner to closely monitor room productivity and consistency.  Our two year olds follow the schools academic curriculum providing parents with weekly lesson plans and daily individualized reports.  The room is positioned just for two year olds, with our two and a half year olds split to Sweet 300.  As in our classes, age appropriate environments are a top priority with us.  You will see on average approximately six months difference in age versus all other centers having whole age classrooms.  This reasoning comes comes into bright focus with two year olds, as there is a world of difference in a two year old and a two and a half year old child.  It is for this reason that these two age groups are separate, both in classrooms as well as on the two year old playground.

We still enjoy Gymstation and Opus One Music once a week, secondly, we start coming to the Kafe for lunch time.

Academically we begin to see their little minds work like sponges.  Through repetition and consistency we have the chance be introduced to letters, numbers, colors, and shapes.  As this takes place we start to see the true development of verbal skills through teacher and classroom interaction.  All kinds of table activities such as fine motor skills with learning toys and exploring arts and crafts.  Group activities such as circle time, music, and motion are duplicated throughout all classrooms helping promote doing things "together".  We learn together as well as individually.

Development of independence and social skills are what we primarily look for when evaluating a child in order to move into the next classroom.  Depending on the time of the year and our peer groups, we will go to Sweet 300 or 350 at the time that works best for the child.  As with all classrooms, when we graduate to the next class, peer groups normally move together in an effort to have some familiar faces on our first day.  Most importantly, candidates for graduation get a chance to visit before making a permanent move into their new classroom.

Now comes the adventure of potty training!  With a little potty room designed for teacher instruction, this is the classroom where things really get started.  A sink just their size to get our hands nice and clean helps obtain a full understanding and is reinforced throughout all classrooms.  A schedule is setup in order to get all children exposed to the "potty atmosphere" while documentation is maintained daily in order to chart their progress with every visit.  Rest assured that our staff oversees this operation to ensure that all children are clean by using our changing table in the classroom.

** Sweet 250 and Sweet 300 both have 6:00 a.m. lead teachers with breakfast served in the classroom.  We do not group with other classrooms for any reason, all day.  Your staff, your child's classmates, familiar faces everyday. Click on the picture above to learn more about the teachers.
