We
take great pride in hearing the feed-back from parents of children that have
completed either of these two classes and started Kindergarten. For our
four year olds that turn five in time to start Kindergarten next fall, these
classrooms accomplish all of the elements that our children will experience in
their first year of elementary school. We bring together reading and
writing skills, basic math skills, and demonstrate it through our daily work
each week. We will also learn to tie our shoes, take care of our
belongings, and most importantly be a good friend to others. Social
skills start to become more independent while emphasis on these skills are
enforced by our teachers allowing our kids to blossom and grow as they learn.
Mark your calendars for the
third Thursday in May, it marks our Pre-K Graduation. We will wear our
cap and gown and receive our diplomas at the Kingwood College Auditorium,
with cake and punch following the ceremony. Parents now begin to keep
pace with their children's progress through weekly folders that go home for
review and parent's signatures, while helping our children learn
responsibility. They know how important it is to bring the folder back
to class, just as in the Kindergarten routine. We also use the "red
light system" to keep our children informed of their behavior, just as in
Kindergarten, also keeping parents informed. Class structure, great
lesson plans, and loving, patient teachers make these classes what they are.
Although state minimum ratios are 18-20 students to 1 teacher, you will see
these classes at an 11:1 scheduled ratio while most of our day is spent with
two teachers, with an average ratio of 9-10:1
Spanish and Computer Classes continue three
to four times per week in both of these classes along with Gymnastics and Opus One Music
once a week. These classes have two computers of their own, with many
programs that parallel our computer lab. When we go to "big school" we
have other teachers we will interact with in P.E., Music, Computers, and Spanish
as it is part of our program to introduce these very important teachers now as
the Kids love it! As with all of these programs, including all supplies,
meals, and snacks are included in your tuition.
We use separate playgrounds for these
classes. Sweet 450 uses the largest three and four year old playground
while all classes go out separately. And of course for rainy days, our gym
is available during the school year.
Breakfast is served in the Kafe for Sweet
350-500. For our earliest children, we still start serving at
approximately 6:15 a.m. The Kafe serves breakfast until 7:30 a.m. when our
teachers take their children to class, but our kitchen never closes.
Breakfast can be ordered from the room after 7:30 and we deliver it in. Click
on the picture at the top to meet the teachers.
